making the invisible visible

"In the Reign of Harad IV" by Steven Millhauser is a fictional story worth knowing. I enjoyed the character development and do not wish to be that type of maker although I see his fascination. You can find the short story available online or you can listen to the audio podcast to understand what I mean. I want you to go see for yourself.

Talk to Me

I am saving the date July 24, 2011. The MOMA is holding an exhibition called "Talk to Me." It is an wide exhibition about what objects signify and the relationship between people and objects. If you visit the link, you'll see that the people involved in this show are sharing their resources and research material. It is interesting and admirable to view their transparent process. I can't wait to see the exhibition. Objects, like jewelry, can be a bridge between wearer/viewer and maker. This is why I find the exhibition exciting, to see different messages in objects.

Queens, NY

Two great places to check out.
The Museum of the Moving Image reopened the beginning of this year. It's a fun space and I was awed by their permanent collection.

Also the Sculpture Center is showcasing Ursula von Rydingsvard. She has a traveling exhibition here until March 28, 2011. It's beautiful.
